Tak'jhou rose, and the last of the whisperings were silenced. Apparently Rissterus was wrong; he wasn't supposed to speak. Tak'jhou was.
"My friends! Xorthin's prophesy has finally come true. Lord Rissterus is the sorcerer. He will bring power to us once again, as Xorthin predicted. Lord Rissterus is the one in the prophesy!"
A sudden cheer errupted from every single one of the villagers.

Something was wrong. Something was very wrong. Rissterus shifted uncomfortably in his seat, looking down at the villagers. He had no idea what Xorthin's prophesy was, and he highly doubted that he was the sorcerer mentioned in it. He looked over at Tak'jhou, his gaze burning down on him. "I wish to speak with you in private," he said icily.

Tak'jhou returned Rissterus's stern gaze for a moment, wondering what the sorcerer wanted. "Of course," he said as he sad back down on his chair. "After the feast."
Meanwhile, the feast had begun. The villagers were filling their plates with the many foods available. A large man, the butcher most likely, had begun to carve one of the hogs, and a smaller boy, probably his apprentice or son, was starting on the second. It seemed as if only moments had passed since Tak'jhou had answered Rissterus when a boy in his mid-teens came up to Rissterus with a plate full of food. He bowed and placed the plate in front of Rissterus. Instead of leaving, however, he remained standing in front of Rissterus.
"This is Evren," Tak'jhou said, motioning towards the boy. "He has a skill with magic."

Rissterus eyed the boy, slowly pulling the plate over to him. After a long pause, Rissterus looked back over at Tak'jhou. So? What of it? The boy, this Evren, had some skill with magic. What was he supposed to do about that? Slowly he returned his gaze to the boy, reaching for a piece of meat on his plate.
Rissterus was getting quite annoyed with this situation. He wished he knew exactly what was going on. So far, he had been treated as if he were royalty itself, now he found out it was because they thought he was part of a prophesy by the Sorcerer Xorthin himself? It didn't make any sense. Rissterus knew of no prophesy, and now they were pushing boys still in their teens at him saying they were good with magic.

Tak'jhou breathed a slight sigh of annoyance, then added, "He is to assist you, should you need anything." Tak'jhou wanted Evren to perhaps be mentored by Rissterus. He was placing the boy as close as he could to Rissterus so at the very least he could learn from him by simply watching.
Evren stood still, his face betraying nothing.

Rissterus slowly turned his head to look once more at the boy. He looked to be no more than fifteen or sixteen. He had hair a little longer than his own, the color of ash. He didn't look to be the type who would 'assist someone should they need anything' at all. Rissterus began to see what was going on.
"Thank you. I'll call if I need you. You can go," he said coldly. He had no wish to be the boy's tutor. He wanted to find Xorthin's tomb, and that's all. He looked around at all the villagers who were feasting. This wasn't helping him. Perhaps when Rissterus was able to talk to Tak'jhou in private, more would be revealed.
After a long, observing look at the feast, Rissterus took a piece of meat from his plate and began to eat.

Evren stayed nearby throughout the feast. Finally, when the festivities were over, Tak'jhou stood and looked over to Rissterus. "You must be tired. Allow me to escort you back to your hut. We can speak more in the morning." He began to walk with Rissterus back down the street to the chieftan's hut where Rissterus was going to stay. Evren walked silently behind them. Even though he was several paces away, he listened intently to every word that was said...

The feast ended, and Rissterus stood, leaving an almost full plate of food on the table. "You must be tired. Allow me to escort you back to your hut. We can speak more in the morning." They began to walk away from the tables and back towards the houses. "We can talk now," Rissterus said when they were without of everyone but Evren. Apparently the annoying kid was going to follow them around like a dog. "I know nothing of this 'prophesy'. I believe it is time for you to explain yourself." He looked over at Tak'jhou as he walked, giving him a threatening glare.

Tak'jhou heaved a great sigh. How impatient... "Three hundred and seventy-some years ago, the great Sorcerer Xorthin spoke a prophesy. It has been passed down, generation after generation, preserved and awaited. He said that once he was dead, our city would face great peril." He raised a hand as Rissterus tried to interrupt. A moment later, he continued. "He said that should they survive it, another Sorcerer would come, to lead us back to our former glory."
A pause.
"His prophesy was true. An army of dwarves attacked, looting and pillaging. When they had finished, they burned it to the ground, leaving the few remaining to shiver in the cold. But," he said, voice growing stronger, "those survivors did not give up. They remembered the second half of the prophesy, and moved to this valley. For three hundred years, we have rebuilt our way of life, fending off the goblins and wolves and other hardships, awaiting the sorcerer.... .... .... awaiting you."
Tak'jhou stopped and turned to face Rissterus. They had just reached the raised hut, and stood outside the entrance. Evran had come closer, listening to the tale. Tak'jhou stared at Rissterus with wide, trusting brown eyes.
