An arrow shot out of the woodlands, hitting Strider's mount square on the thigh. It reared up on its hind legs and tried bucking Stylas off. "Goblins!" He managed to get out before grabbing the reigns tight and jumping off once the horse leveled out again.

Kent swung his left leg over the saddle as he dismounted towards his right - the opposite direction the arrow had come from. He already had one sword drawn, and he reached up to draw the second from his back. The knight in front of him started to dimsount when a second arrow caught him in the shoulder. His dismount turned to a fall. He hit the ground hard.

There must be three Goblin archers, Kent thought as a third arrow flew down at Stylas and Kent. A fourth one whizzed through the trees and struck the neck of Kent's horse. It neighed and fell down. Kent's stallion has dead. The stallion that had faithfully served Kent for years. He looked up towards the trees with a hateful look on his face. He hated these Goblins. He'd kill them. He turned to Stylas. "I don't think there's many of them. If we charge them we may get through. They wouldn't stand a chance in close-quarters." Two more arrows came down.

Strider grabbed him by the upper arm, raising his shield to protect both of them from the rain of death. He dragged him roughly to a thick tree. He didn't check to see if he was alive, but threw himself into the hail of arrows again towards Ke'ntear. "They're nothing without distance." He agreed. "Take the left flank. I'll move straight up."

Kent spun his swords and leapt up, jumping over the fallen horse. He charged towards the direction arrows had come form, veering more to the left, trusting Stylas to take the right. An arrow came at him but missed Kent's moving form. He could see the goblin perched in a tree. He was reaching for another arrow. Kent was almost upon the helmed goblin when he felt a pain in his leg. He flew forwards onto his stomach. He rolled over onto his back and saw an arrow prodruding from his shin. He gritted his teeth. The pain was immense, but the adrenaline from battle made pain harder to feel. He felt the twang of the goblin's bow as he fired at Kent. Kent rolled again, but the arrow caught his sleeve. He jerked his arm away, tearing part of the sleeve off. The arrow in his leg had had the shaft broken off in the roll. He reached down to pull the barb out of his leg. He pulled hard. The searing pain caused him to scream, but the arrowhead came out. He threw it away from him. Suddenly he felt a thud on his back and he sprawled forwards. The goblin had came down from the tree, drawn a sword, kicked Ke'ntear, and was now standing over him with a raised sword.

Kent's left hand could just feel the hilt of one of his swords. He grabbed it by the end of the handle and brought it up and over. The two swords met in the air. The force of the impact knocked the sword from Kent's hand as he had a poor grip on it, but the Goblin sword was also knocked out of the way. Barely. The blade struck the earth right next to Kent's face.
Kent's eyes went to the sword sticking three inches from his face to the Goblin who was just drawing a dagger. He kicked his right leg up and hit the Goblin's rear, knocking him forwards down next to Kent. He then elbowed the Goblin in the face with his left arm and then rolled over on top of his opponent. His right hand went to the Goblin's throat and his left grasped onto the Goblin's wrist with the dagger.
They were locked in a struggle for several moments, and Kent was beginning to over power the Goblin, forcing the blade back at its owner. Then Kent felt two gloved hands grab onto him from behind and lift him up. The second Goblin held his arms firm behind his back as he lifted, but Kent kicked his left leg down at the first Goblin's arm and kicked it down. The dagger plunged into his chest, killing him. Then the second Goblin hit Kent in the back of the head with the hilt of his sword and everything went black.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There must've been more Goblins than they had figured. Sunstrider had been locked in epic combat and could not come to Kent's aid. A third Goblin hurried over and helped the second carry Kent away into the forest.
Xzas hissed darkly as Strider pulled it free of a Goblin's chest. He spun around, expecting to find yet another wave of goblins. There were just a handful of Knights left standing in the small clearing around him where they had made their last stand. But they were alone. Just a tired bunch of warriors surrounded by corpses. There was little that pleased him more. "Fan out and search for survivors."
The warriors spread out. They brought back the bodies of their comrades. They were burried in their armor. At least they could not be looted by the next passing band of Goblins. But something was amiss. Ke'ntear was nowhere to be found.
They searched and searched before finally someone caught sight of a fresh foot trail into the forest. Someone had escaped or fled. Chances were, if they followed the tracks, they would lead back to their camp. If Ke'ntear was alive, hopefully he would be there. They followed the trail, praying to the gods they would not get lost. *Exit*
