There are two types of quests that a character may complete:
Each are unique in their own way and require different forms of roleplaying. Quests are controlled by the "Hero Nemesis", who will create a new thread with (HQ) at the end. If a quest is designed for a specific character, it will say their name in the subject. If a quest is first-come, first-serve, it will have merely a title with no character name, along with a notice at the bottom of the first post.
To start a Level or Hero Quest, you must PM the Hero Nemesis with a description of what you hope it to involve. Only the Hero Nemesis may start a Quest for you.
Here's a brief introduction to both Epic and Hero Quests.
Epic Quest
Epic Quests are very rare. You cannot request them. When the staff decides it's time for an EQ, they will inform the members, and several different characters can join it. Epic Quests are much longer than Hero Quests, and instead of having a very small goal (I.E. retrieving stolen items) it will have a much larger plot that will have something to do with the plot of Mirawold.
For example: An army of Orcs has come out from the Uncharted Territories and is beginning to siege Das Dorf.
And then all the players in the Epic Quest must partake in the defense and driving off of the Orcs.
Epic Quests will have room for roleplay, and will not be your standard Hero Quest.
(Note: The rewards for Epic Quests are not yet set. The only requirement is a minimum of three pages. There is a more likelihood that characters will die, so join Epic Quests with caution. There is a minmum of 10 pages.
Hero Quest
Hero Quests are designed to earn a new power or item that would otherwise be impossible to gain. A Hero Quest can range from fulfilling a mission from a sorcerer in return for the gift of flight, to slaughtering a Guild of Animists to achieve immortality (despite my horrible examples, HQs are not always evil). The Hero Nemesis will not only start a HQ for you, but will also accompany your character throughout by controlling all NPCs (non-played characters) and the environment itself.
Upon completing a Hero Quest, you gain the new ability or item that has already been stated in the first post.
(Note: All Hero Quests must end with the slaying of a "boss" character, whether it be the Dragon who the sorcerer wants you to slay, or the entire Guild of Animists. You gain the power or item no matter what the outcome (as long as you survive). The only requirement is a minimum of three pages.
