The moon hung brightly in the sky, illuminating the night. There was a strong east wind that threatened to cover the land in yet another layer of snow. It had snowed the day before, and the day before that. The countryside still had leftover snow from the last blizzard.
Yet the cold didn't stop Aiden Kelley from being out here. He was almost to his destination - a wealthy plantation owned by an Elf - Austyiä. No one knew why he moved to Lebonwaith, but since he came, he's been extremely prosperous. He was the perfect man to steal from. And tonight was the perfect night to steal from him.
Austyiä was holding a grand feast tonight because he had just been betrothed to someone. Aiden Kelley didn't know who Austyiä was to marry, nor did he care. With all the guests around, the guards wouldn't be as watchful over the estate treasury.
He just needed a way in now...

Aiden walked around the plantation, sticking to the shadows. He planned on jumping a guard and taking his clothes. But upon inspection he found they were mostly wearing normal garb instead of matching uniforms. Maybe he would have to sneak in as a guest. He crept around front to watch the guests arrive, waiting for the right one.

Fancy carriages were coming down the long dirt road that lead to the mansion. They were greeted by servants who lead them inside. There was an open buggy approaching with a stout man with sideburns. He was sitting in the back while a servant drove the cart. Aiden could try to stop them, but it was doubtful the man's clothes would fit Aiden. Still, there wasn't anyone around just yet, and it was doubtful anyone would hear... Or maybe Aiden could wait for another chance. He had to decide quickly, the buggy was drawing closer.
If you try to waylay the man, roll an agility check. Passing roll: 8

Aiden ducked low as it went by. He doubted the clothes would fit. That would have been a good chance right there. The man was alone. He watched what the man did at the door upon arrival and waited for the next carriage.

The man got out and greeted the servant. After a few words which Aiden couldn't hear, he gave what looked to be a scroll to the servant, and then was lead inside. So, they had invitations...
The next carriage to to come up the drive was a fancy enclosed box with two drivers. Aiden let it pass. And that seemed to be it. No more came for 15 minutes. He was about to try a different strategy when he heard hoof beats. After waiting a minute, he could distinguish a lone horseman riding down at an easy trot. Aiden could see a sword hanging on his belt, but other than that, he looked defenseless. He was alone too...
To knock out the horseman, roll an agility check. Passing roll: 8 If you fail, you will only succeed in knocking him off his saddle.

He considered jumping him but decided against getting blood on the clothes he was wearing. He leapt reached down and grabbed a heavy stone, throwing it at him, hoping to hit him in the head. Agility 4 + [dice=6] = 8 ( *Sigh, wanted to fight* ) [rand=61032395756550077569285101398272155760287660075215841522940051302]

The rock struck him dead on in the forehead. He tumbled off his horse with a nasty looking cut. Aiden quickly rushed over, securing the horse's reins. Aiden quickly stripped the man and put his clothes on. In an inside pocket to the man's embroidered green vest, he found a rolled up scroll. It was an invitation, but had no name. Aiden Kelley was free to introduce himself as whoever he wished. Or he could try to pose as the man that now lay unconscious in the ditch, but the man had a thick red beard, and his facial structure was completely different from Aiden's. If anyone knew the man personally, any attempts to impersonate him would likely fail...

He mounted the horse and rode to the party. A man took his horse at the front walk and he thanked him, throwing him a coin. He strode confidently down the walk to the house. He had the invitation ready. "Would this be Austyiä's party? I already dropped in on the wrong one earlier. I would've doubted there bein' two parties on the same road on the same eve. But to me surprise these seem to be fun-lovin' parts eh?" He laughs. "Oh, Kelley's the name by the way."

The servant eyed Aiden oddly. Something about his story was just... odd. And his accent sounded... strange. But he seemed to have an invitation. The servant put on a smile, handed the scroll back to Aiden, and bowed. [green]"Welcome, Master Kelley. Please, this way."[/green] The servant turned and led Aiden through the doorway into a hall that had two doors on either side. The hall was short and opened into the Front Hall with a large staircase in the front. Intricately carved banisters guarded the edges. Open archways led into rooms off to either side. There were five other guests already waiting. Two men were engaged in conversation halfway up the stairs, two more - man and woman - were talking at the foot of the stairs, and a third younger man sat waiting in a chair, resting his chin on his hand. He was looking at Aiden curiously.

Aiden smiled, walking into the room and talking cheerfully to several guests. He spotted the young man watching him and nodded. Maybe that was the groom. He cared little though. He looked up the stairs at the two conversing. He scanned the room for for any notable figures. Warriors, Templar, security figures. He also glanced around for the door that would lead to his prize.

Everyone looked wealthy. There were also several warriors, too. Best avoid them... None of the doors around looked like they led to the treasury. The treasury, Aiden knew, was located below ground level. A servant suddenly called for the guests to enter the dining hall. Everyone started filing out...

Aiden took the moment to slip out of the room as the guards were watching the people leave to the dining hall. He opened a door and went inside, looking around. It was dark and he lit a candle on the wall. It was a nice house, that was for sure. It would be a good hit if he ever found what he was looking for.

The walls were covered with paintings and tapestries, and led to a windying stone staircase. There were also a couple doors on the lefthand wall - all of which were locked. The staircase led up. Light spilled through the open archway at the top.

Aiden considered his options. He could pick the locks, head upstairs and hopefully find a bedroom with valuable items for the taking, or keep looking for a way down below the house.
He first attempted to pick the locks. He would try the stairs after.
