Oh great. Does that mean I'm going to get a punishment, but not Malak? That would be a blow to his pride. After a brief silence, Retuke spoke. "Perhaps we should just knock and explain what happened?" Somehow, he doubted that would work.

"I guess...But that might not work. We could feign innocence, than make off with Malakai when they aren't paying attention." She didn't think that would work either, but it sounded more likely.

Retuke leaned against the pantry shelves, trying to think of what to do. "Maybe you could just make them fall to sleep, then we get Malakai out?" That didn't seem very mage-like, though. He absent-mindedly reached out and took one of the cookies.

"That sounds good." Seraphin was easy to agree. She took a cookie as well, and just stood, thinking.

Retuke was about to finish his cookie when the door opened again. The same man who had taken Malak gaped at them; two more mages munching on cookiees. Retuke just stood there looking at the man, frozen. For a moment, none of them spoke, then the man called out for his companions who were guarding Malakai.
We're in trouble.

Seraphin gave an impish smile,"They are good cookies, any chance I could buy them? And have you seen a drow elf, 'bout this high," she held her hand up to Malak's height,"goes by the name of Malakai?" She smiled,"He's one of my apprentices in the Mage's Guild."

The men blinked at Seraphin and Retuke. These would be the second and third thieves they would find in their pantry within ten minutes. [teal]"Alright, you're coming with us,"[/teal] one of them growled, reaching forwards. Seraphin and Retuke were pulled out of the pantry and into the hall. Retuke glanced at Seraphin, wondering what they were supposed to do.

Seraphin allowed herself to be pulled roughly out of the pantry. Everything was going as she planned. But she could tell Retuke had no clue what she was doing. She mouthed Leave it to me to Retuke. She hoped it would work out...

As the guards began to herd the two mages down the hall towards the stairs, Retuke was thinking of all the possible escapes they could make. None seemed like great ideas to him, and he decided to just follow Seraphin's lead. They were just passing the entrance to the main tavern room of the inn. Now or never...

Seraphin knew she had to cast a spell now, before they could get away from an exit. She began quickly murmurming the words to a spell. She had long ago learned how to cast a spell without moving her lips in an obvious manner. She was just going to use something simple, a sleep spell. It wouldn't alert people like fire or ice, but it was potent just the same. She said the final words, and flourished her hands. The two men fell to the ground with two soft thumps.

Retuke reacted quickly. As the man next to him fell, Retuke snatched his staff back and stepped out of the way. He looked down at the two men on the ground and then up at Seraphin. "Wow, nice job." He hadn't even heard her speak. "Let's hide them somewhere and get Malakai." Moving them was easier said than done. The two sleeping elves were large and heavy, and Retuke found it a difficult task to transport them back to the pantry. Luckily, no one heard them.
"Alright, Malakai's upstairs," Retuke said, confidently. With the Mage Guildmaster at his side, he didn't think anything could go wrong.

"Thank you." Seraphin was ready to rescue Malakai, and knew they would be alright. They probably sent their strongest men to capture us..idiots, she thought.

Retuke and Seraphin moved quickly up to the second level. Retuke paused to let Martin out of the closet, then went to the room Malakai was being held at. He pressed his ear against the door and listened. It seemed quiet except for the sound of... pacing? The muffled noise of a heavy man in boots moving in circles about the room. Malak was neither heavy, nor wearing boots.
"I think there's someone in there with Malakai," Retuke whispered.

"That might cause....complications." Seraphin gave a silent sigh. It would be more difficult if there was a guard, especially since Seraphin wanted no one hurt. "How would I get rid of him..."she murmured to herself.

Retuke pressed his back against the wall. "I don't suppose we could just knock him out?" Retuke doubted it. If they physically hurt someone, it could be very bad publicity for the Mage Guild. "We could -" Retuke started to suggest something, but the sound of boots on the stairs caused him to silence himself and glance at Seraphin in alarm. They would have to hide. The only place that came to mind was the little closet. He hurried to the small room and ushered Seraphin inside. He almost slammed the door, but at the last moment he stopped it and gently pushed it forwards until he heard a quiet click.
The room was barely big enough for Retuke and Seraphin and.... Martin! He had forgotten the guild cat!
