"We could-" Retuke had been cut off by the sound of boots. He had seen a little closet and ushered her in. Shortly after he had closed the door, his eyes had widened in shock. Seraphin pondered this for a second, then came to the same realization the Retuke had. They had forgotten Martin in all this..and Seraphin had been coming to enjoy the cat's presence. She had no clue how to save the poor feline, and certainly did not want to risk opening the door. But wait...was the spell she had put on the cat earlier still in effect? She tried to see through Martin's eyes. Yes, it worked! She saw the stairs directly in front of her. Martin climbed up them and mewed, pawing at the door. "No, no you idiotic cat!" Seraphin hissed to herself.

Retuke looked at Seraphin with a blank expression on his face. He could tell by the way her eyes looked that she was once more using her spell over the cat, and he must be doing something very... not very good. Retuke pressed himself against the wall and closed his eyes, waiting for the hall to clear.
Meanwhile, outside, the door opened, and a gruff man (Well, elf, but I'm just going to call him 'man' because it's easier.) stooped down and picked Martin up. He closed the door and started petting the guild cat. The frustrating thing was, the man was holding Martin in a way that Seraphin couldn't get a good view the room. And all Martin was doing was purring.

"Errggh, you stupid cat, bite him! Such a traitorous...." Seraphin was severly annoyed by Martin's behavior. But then a plan came into her head. Hopefully this man was thickheaded, or at least a little slow. She spoke through the cat in what she hoped was a imperious, and catlike voice. "Oh esteemed elf, I am a magical cat. Do as I say, and I will grant you one wish. Only one, because I have quite an easy request of you."

The man's eyes widened and he let out a startled cry as Martin began to speak. He almost dropped the cat, but managed to stop himself in time. [orange]"Oi! You're talking!"[/orange] he blurted out without thinking. [orange]"A... A magical cat? A magical cat... One wish..."[/orange] He seemed now to be thinking hard, looking down at the floor. After a moment, he looked up, [orange]"I wish to be rich enough to buy my own manor instead of working here at this blasted tavern!"[/orange] He seemed quite pleased with his wish, and awaited the 'magical cat's response.
Back inside the closet, Retuke couldn't help but laugh. What Seraphin was doing struck him as hilarious.

Seraphin contemplated this. She obviously couldn't give him money, but if they snuck up to the door, and then Martin and Malakai escaped, they could run back through the rift. "Okay, when I say, 'your lovely manor' you need to cast a sleep spell, Retuke." Seraphin whispered,"Now we need to sneak up there, and stand close to the door." "Sir, my request is that you free the kind Drow you have captive, and allow him to return to the Mage's Guild where he belongs," Seraphin/Martin said to the elf, who was probably imagining luxurious life in a manor.

"Alright," Retuke nodded, showing she could rely on him. He started to slowly open the closet door and peek out...
"Sir, my request is that you free the kind Drow you have captive, and allow him to return to the Mage's Guild where he belongs." The man's hopeful smile faded, and his face darkened. He looked away sadly. [orange]"I'm afraid they've just taken him..."[/orange] He turned, showing Martin/Seraphin that the room was empty. The chair that Malak had been tied to was now empty, and there was no sign of the Drow. [orange]"The Town Watch just came and took him away. They'll probably be just getting downstairs by now... ... ... What about my manor? Will you still grant my wish?"[/orange] He looked worriedly at Martin.

"The Town Watch just came and took him away. They'll probably be just getting downstairs by now... ... ... What about my manor? Will you still grant my wish?" He looked worriedly at Martin. Martin licked his paws, which was a good thinking gesture. When he finished, Seraphin spoke. "I will think about it. There are two mages in the closet closest to here. I grow tired of talking, so the woman will serve as my interpretor. She is a very important person, and will be treated with respect. They are to help you rescue the drow." Seraphin sighed with relief. Now they didn't have to worry about the man coming apon them or realising their trickery.

Retuke hesitated from leaving the closet, looking at Seraphin while she talked as Martin. Though he could only hear one side of the conversation, he pieced together what was going on. "I will think about it. There are two mages in the closet closest to here. I grow tired of talking, so the woman will serve as my interpretor. She is a very important person, and will be treated with respect. They are to help you rescue the drow." Seraphin had hopefully secured the guard's help, and together they could save Malakai.
This was such a bad idea, Retuke decided. Why did I let Malak do this?
The guard gently put Martin down and hurried to the door to meet up with Seraphin and Retuke. From what Martin could see, he looked to have bought the story.

Seraphin cleared her throat quietly. She was ready to meet the guard. "Talking like that hurts my throat, you know? I'm gonna be a quiet little mage," Seraphin said softly to Retuke. She then stood like she had no clue what was going on, and got wideeyed when the guard opened the door. "Please don't hurt us, were here to rescue Malakai." Seraphin spoke in a higher, more innocent sounding voice.

Retuke stepped back so he wasn't as close to the door, and more behind Seraphin now. When the guard opened the door, Seraphin spoke first, acting very unlike herself. Retuke supported the charade by widening his eyes and stepping as far back to the wall as he could, upsetting a broom that leaned in his way.
The guard looked them over, without saying anything. Duty told him to put them under house arrest, but greed told him to help them. [orange]"Are you the one's the cat spoke of?"[/orange] he asked, coming to the decision to help them. [orange]"We must hurry, the Town Watch have probably left the tavern by now."[/orange]

"Indeed! We must go. Come on Retuke," Seraphin said in the innocent voice, rushing out of the closet. She looked at the man, who seemed to be in a battle of wills with himself. Oh well, at least I can take him out if he betrays us, or use Martin... she thought, knowing that greed would overpower almost any other force.

Retuke pushed past the guard and followed Seraphin towards the stairs. He looked over his shoulder, hearing the guard behind him. It seemed he was going to help them. They descended the stairs and headed towards the main tavern-room. Inside, laughter and shouting could be heard. The bard was no longer telling his story, apparently.
Peeking into the room, Retuke felt both relief and apprehension. Malakai was still in the room with the Town Guard, but they were standing on the dais where the bard had been, and the crowd were shouting at Malakai.
"We have to get him out of there," Retuke whispered to Seraphin.

Seraphin nodded. "Should we run in, grab him, and take off? Because Martin isn't looking like an all knowing cat anymore." Martin was playing with a dustball on the floor. Seraphin sighed. How would they do this?

The guard behind them was shifting uncomfortably. Retuke glanced from Seraphin to him and back to Seraphin. "Maybe we can cause a diversion?" Again, he glanced over at the guard. Something told Retuke he wasn't going to remain on their side much longer. He shifted his grip on his wooden staff and suddenly brought it up and whacked the guard on the side of the head, knocking him out. There was a heavy thump as he hit the ground.
He looked back at Seraphin and shrugged. She probably could've done it with magic, but it was too late now.
"Yeah, we need some sort of diversion." He looked down at the guard lying on the floor. "Maybe I could dress up as him?"
The shouts were getting louder. They had to get a move on.

Seraphin nodded. "Tell him that....ummm.....some type of superior said to let Malak go.." She didn't know if the Guard Captain was there or not, so they couldn't use him..
